It’s no secret that most of our lives have changed pretty drastically over the last few months. While I am used to working from home, I was never home this much, especially not on the weekends. With this extra time to myself, I have tried to use it for good. Though many evenings are spent binging shows on the couch, others have been very productive. Here’s what we’ve been up to.

Working Out at Home

I have missed my Barre3 classes and the gym but have honestly made the best of it with YouTube videos. Even though I don’t feel quite the same after an online workout compared to a studio, some of these videos have hit muscles I didn’t even know I had. I had some workout equipment from the past and found workouts that would optimize what I had. Here are some videos I have been using:

Cleaning & Organizing E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G

If you haven’t rearranged your closet three times by now, are you even in quarantine? The truth is, I actually love organizing. I feel so accomplished after throwing things out and putting things where they go. I wrote a blog post on a few of my favorite ways to organize here.

Focusing on Self Care

With no rush to go anywhere these days, I have spent extra time on focusing on my skin and self care. I recently started dry brushing before showering and lymphatic drainage massaging after and really focusing on my nighttime skincare routine. Self care can mean so many things from just working out, having “me time”, eating healthy, sleeping, really just taking care of my body, appearance, and mind.

My mornings consist of coffee, a workout video or walking champ before getting ready for the day. I wash my face, use this for my puffy eyes, apply my daily Tula moisturizer, and jade roll my face and neck before my first meetings. I try to take a mental break halfway through the day by doing some dishes, getting some vitamin D, or watching one of my shows during lunch. This really helps me stay sane throughout the day.

For my evening skin care, I alternate between this serum, & night cream combo and this trio throughout the week. These products are pricey but I always can find them on sale somewhere and they have done wonders for my skin. When I get in bed I have always applied chapstick but recently I started using this night balm and it is 100% amazing. Then I shoot for about 8 hours of sleep every night! I shared how to take care of your hair in this post.

Cooking Non Stop

Omg will the cooking and dishes cycle ever stop?! Normally we cook Monday through Thursdays and eat out on the weekends, but this last month has really burned me out. We did have a bit of a challenge when our oven went out recently and got pretty creative with what we could cook on our Green Egg. That was actually pretty fun, we have been making homemade pizzas on the Egg and they are so good! The first time we used a cast iron but then bought a pizza stone and they were even better! I have loved sharing fun cocktails with you on Instagram though.

Binging TV Shows & Movies

Judge me all you want, but we love movies and TV. Recently we have watched:

  • The Last Dance Michael Jordan Documentary (ESPN)
  • Upload (Amazon Prime)
  • Outer Banks (Netflix)
  • Waco (Netflix)
  • Little Fires Everywhere (Hulu)

Here are some of my favorites we’ve watched in the past:

  • Yellowstone
  • Downton Abbey
  • Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
  • Big Little Lies
  • Younger
  • Dead to Me
  • Schitt’s Creek
  • Younger
  • The Bold Type

Enjoying the Outdoors

I have never been more grateful for our home than during this time. We have spent more time outside the last month than I can ever remember and it has been amazing. If you saw on my stories, I refinished our old wrought iron furniture from college and they look brand new. Shane made us a new set of corn hole boards and we also set up a fire pit out in the woods. Champ has been loving every bit of it and the weather in Columbia has been the biggest blessing.

Shopping Online

I have reallllly tried to be good and not shop a lot during this time, but there have been some great sales on things I would’ve probably bought anyway. I’ve shared a few summer outfits on stories but I usually buy a new coat this time of year on sale. I got this Topshop Coat 75% off a few weeks ago and I know come fall I will be so excited to wear it! I stocked up on some makeup and skincare I found on sale, but honestly really just miss walking around Home Goods! Here’s some summer styles I’m loving:

Planning a Kitchen Remodel!!!

You heard it here first. Our home is about to go under the knife for a drastic change. If you saw about a month ago, our oven went out and since all our appliances are from 2005, we decided to buy a new set altogether. This prompted a bigger discussion of renovating the kitchen altogether. We knew eventually we would remodel, but were really focusing on saving the last year. So what are we doing?!

As you can imagine, one thing has snowballed into another and the first thing that has to happen is new floors. We currently have laminate flooring in the kitchen, hardwoods in the entry, and carpet in the living room. It wouldn’t make sense to have a beautiful new kitchen and ugly flooring right. So alllllll of it is going to be hardwoods and I am so excited! Phase 1 will be the floors, then painting the kitchen cabinets white with new hardware, new countertops, and backsplash!!! You can check out my inspiration I’ve been pinning along the way of what I’m going for. I can’t wait to see how it turns out and I will be sharing it along the way with you on Instagram.

Oh fun, enjoy your kitchen remodel! We’re about to embark on a backyard patio creation project to make home even more appealing in the months to come (since the outside world is just… yeah!). Can’t wait to see how your kitchen goes, those are the best projects.
