One of my absolute favorite vacations is to go snow skiing. I have been skiing as long as I can remember and I plan on going at least once a year until I can’t ski anymore. This President’s Weekend my family went to two different incredible ski resorts in Colorado, Vail & Keystone. We stayed at an awesome condo in the Village at Keystone to be close to the slopes. I always recommend staying ski-in/ski-out if you can. It makes the whole trip so much more convenient. I can’t wait to try another resort next season. Comment below if you have any suggestions. Here’s some great pics of the resorts and my loving family and sweet boyfriend from the trip. Enjoy!
Keystone, CO
The Mountain: Awesome skiing. We had incredible weather two of the three days that we skied. It was very crowded in the morning, especially with ski school going on, but the afternoon opened up a lot. I thought I would like the backside of the mountain better, but honestly it was all good. There were a lot of groomed blues and blacks for the advanced skiers. My favorite runs were Starfire, Spillway, Flying Dutchman, and Elk Horn.
The Village: Keystone is a very cute and quaint village located at the bottom of the mountain. We cooked our meals most of the weekend but we went out to dinner at Zuma Roadhouse one night. This place was very family friendly and the food and drinks were great. I recommend the ‘Barrel-tini’. The town was full of cute little souvenir shops a few restaurants and coffee shops. Overall, I highly recommend this resort for a family or adult ski vacation.
The Condo: We stayed at Expedition Station Condos and we loved it. I wish we would have been a little bit closer to the gondola but it was about a 5 minute walk from the condo. The condo facility had heated underground parking, a pool and hot tub, ski lockers, and a community lobby with a pool table and sitting area. The condo was very homey and comfortable after an exhausting day on the slopes!
Vail, CO
The Mountain: Wow… Vail was huge!! Now I understand why it is ranked as one of the best places to ski in the United States. We would have needed at least three ski days to cover the mountain. My favorite run was Cloud 9 on the Blue Side Basin, next I recommend the China Bowl area, all three Poppyfield runs were amazing. We stayed on the Orient Express Lift trail a lot. Great skiing for blues and backs.
The Village: We didn’t get to spend much time in the village because we just came in for the day, but it was so nice. Vail had tons of boutiques for shopping, condos right in town, and restaurants. We sat outside at Yeti’s Grind to relax before driving back and honestly I had the best Vanilla Soy Latte of my life here. I can’t wait to go back and explore the whole village.
Overall we had a wonderful trip to both resorts. We will definitely be planning another trip for next season.
Til next time Colorado!
