I cannot believe it has already been a YEAR since my bachelorette trip to New York City!! Seriously this was one of the most fun trips I have ever been on. All because it was in my favorite city with my best girls! In this post I am going to share a recap of our trip and tips for planning an amazing girls trip or NYC bachelorette party in the city.
Where We Stayed
One of the first things to plan in NYC is where you want your home base to be. There are so many areas of Manhattan and each one has its own amazing qualities, I wanted to have a center location and a room with a balcony because there is nothing like sitting outside on a private terrace to take in the city. We stayed in the Hemingway Suite with an additional attached room at The Lexington Autograph Collection by Marriott in Midtown East and it was seriously amazing. We had reserved the Lady Ella suite but it was unavailable when we checked in. Thankfully the hotel was quick to accommodate us with a similar room and still a killer outdoor space. The location of this hotel was great for our trip and there was amazing dollar slice pizza right around the corner for late night eats!
Our Itinerary
We went for Labor Day weekend 2017 which was the perfect time to go. My MOH and I went up early to kick off the weekend on Thursday. We arrived to a surprise from and my sweet fiancé, he had the most gorgeous bouquet of red roses and champagne delivered to the hotel. Boys take notes… I will never forget this! The weather was exceptional and we had an extra day for travel and fun.
I always love to kick off a NYC trip with a rooftop bar and go from there. When planning your trip, focus on things you can do together that won’t break the bank for your friends. We had such an insane fun time, we are trying to plan another trip ASAP with the same group. Unfortunately we did have a day of rain that canceled our plans in Central Park, but it was all still amazing.
Friday:
Travel/ Check in
5:00 230 Fifth Rooftop – There are so many awesome rooftops, but they can be crowded so definitely go early. This space was the biggest rooftop I have been to, so it was great for a big group! Drink prices were also very reasonable and the view of the Empire State Building and the skyline is gorgeous. (we had a few peeping Tom’s photobomb our pic…)
7:00 Dinner at Coppolas East– At this point, carb loading was a good idea and the food is delicious! Check out my post on Eating in NYC for other recommendations.
9:00 Brass Monkey Bar– We did a little too much day drinking and only went to one bar, but I’ve been here twice and it’s always a good time.
Some other fun places to go out that are more swanky are The Fleur Room, PHD Rooftop, or The Blond.
Saturday
Boozy Brunch at Dos Caminos– They have a bottomless brunch option and great food. Watch out though, some of their dishes are spicy!
Walk the High Line- An awesome, free experience in the city to walk off the booze and get outside!
Rooftop at Le Bain at The Standard- While we were at the High Line we decided to spend the afternoon here over two pitchers of watermelon margaritas. Le Bain has stunning views of Lower Manhattan like the One World Trade Center Tower and the Hudson River. We hung out here until it was time to head back to the hotel to get ready for the evening.
Limo Pickup to go to Brooklyn (Shane booked us a limo for the night to take us to & from and it was one of my favorite parts of the trip! I highly recommend doing this with your girlfriends)
7:30 Dinner at Cecconi’s Dumbo– We had planned to be here for sunset dinner, which has STUNNING views of the Manhattan skyline and Bridge from Dumbo. Unfortunately, it was pouring rain and the clouds were so thick that it was already dark. You could definitely do brunch here for the views after walking the BK Bridge.
10:00 House of Yes Nightclub– I cannot tell you how perfect this place is for a NYC bachelorette party!!! I was #livingmybestlife here and for so many reasons. I didn’t want to do the typical male stripclub thing for my Bach, but I’m all about entertainment. The vibe of this place was so fun, with the performers hanging from the ceiling and the crazy techno music. I even got on stage and twirled the light sticks that they had. It was awesome.
2:00 am $1 Slice Pizza near hotel (LOL)- I think this one explains itself. It was so good too.
Sunday
We had planned to go to Central Park and do a yoga session in the park, but it rained all morning. Instead we slept in, went shopping and walked around midtown after it stopped raining.
Since it had been a jammed packed weekend of fun, we all opted for staying in and having Chinese food delivered to the room. It was the perfect way to end our trip and just spend time together.
On Monday, we all traveled home and said our goodbyes and looked forward to seeing everyone at the wedding, just a few weeks later!!
Tips for Planning Your NYC Bachelorette Trip
Find Your Base First
Like I said above, finding where you want your home base to be is a great starting point. I looked for hours and hours at hotels and vacation rentals and then planned the rest from there.
Be Budget Conscious
If you’re planning your own bachelorette weekend, or planning someone else’s, just keep in mind that your friends want to be there for you. And they shouldn’t have to break the bank for it. We had a very affordable itinerary for an expensive place like NYC. Throwing in free things like Central Park, The High Line, or walking the Brooklyn Bridge are all amazing things to do without spending a dime.
Also, if you’re the bride, it’s likely that your girls picked up some part of your trip. In my case, they covered my portion of the hotel. In return, I treated them by picking up the tab at the rooftop on Friday, and Shane (my fiancé) booked the limo for us and it was amazing!
Transportation
With a group of 8 people, it was actually better for us to Uber or Taxi everywhere than try to take the Subway, at $2.20 per swipe, it all evened out and was more convenient as well. We did take the Subway once to go through Grand Central Terminal. I wanted the girls so experience it and it is one of my favorite NYC landmarks. Also, when booking your flights, try to coordinate times together because it is great to share a cab for the almost hour drive into the city.
You Can’t See It All
Having been to NYC 5 times, there are still so many things I want to do and see when I go. I definitely think it is important to plan our your trip before you go with a group because it can be overwhelming to try and wing it. You truly can’t see it all in a weekend, or even a month. Plan around your budget, group desires, and location and it will be an amazing trip regardless!
Reservations
There are so many amazing restaurants in New York City, but some of them are very quaint and small and a lot of them do not take reservations. I used Open Table and Resy to search restaurants for our trip, knowing we had 8 people, it is definitely the way to go.
I hope you found this guide helpful and that you will have an incredible NYC Bachelorette weekend or girls trip! For more like this, see it first on my Instagram. If you want to save for later, all images are pin friendly to save to your Pinterest. -xoxo- Mattison <3

Maura
Did the room at the hotel fit all of you? Or were you split into different rooms?
Mattison Heatherly
Hi Maura,
There was an additional room attached that we also stayed in since the suite we had reserved to fit us all was not available. But we were able to keep the door open between the rooms so we were all still together! Hope that helps! Thank you for reading.

Hey! Thanks for sharing this amazing article. I and a few others are planning a Bachelorette party for a friend and I like how you planned out the dinner and drinks. Just a quick question- do we need to book a room for Le Bain at the Standard or we can just walk in and grab a table?
Mattison Heatherly
Yay! I’m so glad you found it useful. No you don’t have to be staying at the hotel to go up to Le Bain. There is an elevator on the ground level that will take you up to the rooftop. Depending on what area you’re in, I also love the rooftop at CloudM and Refinery Rooftop! If you’ve got a group of more than 4 people, I would definitely look into getting dinner and brunch reservations wherever you go for your trip.
