It seems like I blinked and the last year flew by. I feel like I should be sitting by the pool, sipping a margarita to write this post to get me back into the vacation mood. After the wedding, we had the holidays, we bought a house, and then we moved, and wedding content just got put on the back burner. Now that things have settled down, I am excited to look back on the memories of our wedding and honeymoon and share with you all.
Destination: Riviera Maya, Mexico
Resort: El Dorado Maroma- All Inclusive- Adults Only
Dates: October 2-8
Our Resort
El Dorado Maroma
Food
The resort was amazing and had the most exceptional staff that I have ever stayed with. It took us a bit to find our groove on where to eat and drink the first few days, but when we did, we were so pleased. To be honest, our first few meals were not that great, BUT we always had fresh guacamole and margaritas, so you know I was happy! Our favorite restaurants were the Caribbean Grill, Lima Limón and Mio. I didn’t love having to make reservations at the restaurants each night, but it was fine.
Outdoor Amenities
The resort had beach and pool volleyball each day and we got into that with a good group of vacationers and two of the staff that were awesome. The main pool bartender was amazing as well, and always kept the group going. There was also a beach bartender that would bring drinks out to the chairs/cabanas on the private beach. You could check out complimentary kayaks as well which was fun to paddle out into the ocean.
Suite
Our room was always quiet and comfortable. We booked the private pool junior suite and loved it. The robes and slippers in the room were and exceptional touch. They were SO soft, we both wore them all week!! One of my favorite things about our suite was the outside shower. Any time I am at the beach, I always feel like I need to shower immediately to get the sand and salt off me and what better way to do that than outside!!
Romance
Obviously another favorite part of our honeymoon was the spa. Is it really a honeymoon if you didn’t get a couples massage? They offer a special package for honeymooners that includes a romantic dinner on the beach, two for one massages, and a romantic room service breakfast. We utilized all of these perks and loved every single one of them. They also surprised us after our beach side dinner with a romantic turndown service in our room with roses and chocolates, it was so cute!
Overall everything was incredible and we could not have been more happy that we booked an adults only & all inclusive. This was exactly what we needed after the craziness of the wedding.
Excursions
On the resort grounds, there is a company called Lomas Travel where you can book your excursions. We did a full day adventure with Aventuras Mayas that was full of cenotes, ATVs, and zip lining that was so much fun. I highly recommend something like this if it is your first time in this part of Mexico. We even zip lined into one of the cenotes, which was my favorite part of the day.
On another day, we walked down the beach from our resort and found a company that did parasailing. Neither of us had ever done it before so we signed up. It was SO cool to see the ocean from this view. It was very safe and not scary at all.
Travel Tips
We were able to book transportation from CUN airport through the resort and I am so glad we did. This was the best way to get there than trying to find a taxi and pay tolls along the way. It took about 45 minutes to get to our resort. It rained a little bit each day we were there the first week of October, so plan accordingly on the time of year you travel. Our resort also had stairs and no elevators, which was totally fine for us, but may not be for others. You can book tours ahead of time if you are interested in visiting the Mayan Ruins, Cenotes, or other parts of the region, you can reserve them on Viator.
Thank you so much for reading the post today. I wish I was sitting on the beach in Mexico with my hubby, but we will be there soon!!! Stay tuned to follow our trip in November and see where we are headed next always first on Instagram.
