I am so so in love with how this room turned out. If you haven’t seen it on my Instagram, this video really brings it to life. As you may know, Shane and I have done a lot of DIY remodeling to our home over the last eight years and every project is my favorite at the time, but this one has a special place in my heart. I wanted a cozy room that felt relaxing and calm, but could be utilized for future children to come. Most of our home has neutral tones and we added pops of a mauve pink once we found out that we were having a girl. Over the past year and a half, this room has not only been a place of refuge and rest for our little one, but a cozy escape to nurse, cuddle, laugh, play, read and cry together.

Nursery Trim & Paint
One of my favorite things about this room is the trim and moulding work that we added. It gives this small area such character. The wall color is Sherwin Williams – “City Loft” which is the perfect soft neutral shade.
Nursery Furniture & Lighting
Our crib was handed down to me from my aunt that kept all six of her grand babies safe and sound when they were little. We sanded it down and painted it Sherwin Williams – “Grizzle Grey” that almost perfectly matched the dresser we purchased for this room. However now that we have two girls I purchased a new crib from Namesake and it is absolutely beautiful and amazing quality.
I have loved this dresser as it doubles as a changing table with a pad on top, perfectly fits full sleeves of diapers, and has soft close drawers. The next important piece of furniture that every nursery must have is a comfortable chair. You will spend many late nights and early mornings rocking that sweet baby, so make sure it swivels, reclines, and glides. We also have loved having another seat in this room for both storage and conversation. This bench was also one of the few pink elements we added to the room to feel feminine and functional for storage.
From the minute we started this room, I knew I wanted a beautiful light fixture for the baby to look at from her crib or play mat. I looked foreverrr and landed on this chandelier that I am still in love with. We installed these battery operated wall sconces that are the perfect dim light for late nights or early mornings and just add the most beautiful finishing touch to the walls. We got rechargeable lights that have multiple color options which has been so fun for Sophia to pick her color at bedtime. They even have a timer so you can set it without the batteries running down. I am also so glad that we chose a floor lamp instead of tabletop lamp now that she is grabbing everything in sight.
Some additional decor that I think really brings the room together are these plush blackout curtains in shade “Spiced Rum”, this olive tree, and this beautiful round rug that tied the whole room together. These curtains have hands down been one of my favorite purchases for our home because they look so expensive and cozy but are incredibly affordable and great quality.
